Enjoying Life Every Day…the BICO Way

There is no secret to happiness, and the Fountain of Youth is a myth, but every life is precious and so we thank the Lord every day for our blessings.

This photo was snapped by our son a while back, but anyone who knows the Fendell’s, or has worked with BICO Transportation, knows that we enjoy life…that we live life to the fullest.

Happiness is easy if you’re in the right state of mind and are looking for it.
  • Does BICO have bad days? Yes.
  • Do our employees have bad days? Yes.
  • Do the Fendell’s (as a family unit and as individuals) have bad days? Yes.

 BUT…

That doesn’t ruin our overall happiness. Things do get better. Life is worth fighting for.

We believe that, and work hard every day to make each other’s lives (and our own) that much better. Better doesn’t mean money. Happiness doesn’t mean money.

When we pick up, deliver, and haul something for a customer, it is a time to rejoice because that customer brought us into their lives. In return, we brought them into the BICO family.

  • We could do our job and go home (the other guys).
  • We could do our job well and go home (higher end other guys).
  • We could do our job well, make a positive impact on the people we meet, enrich our lives, and then go home (BICO Transportation).

Happiness, good natured, friendliness, understanding, hardworking, family centric, loving life, and having the ability to love our fellow man are part of who we are. We don’t fake it. It’s not hard for us. It really is part of who we are.

Happiness is in our DNA (right next to the funny bone).

Question

Let’s say that you have stressful transportation issue. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if you could call a shipper to take care of it, and you wouldn’t have to worry about it any longer; plus the interaction made you feel better?

Answer

BICO Transportation. When we take on a job, those items are treated as our own. You become part of the BICO family; and we guarantee that you’ll always get us on a good day, because every day is a good day.

We know that life can be hard, but loving life is easy.

Looking to Retire

The Szarek’s are looking to retire in a few years, and so they are making that dream a reality now.

They have the land, and now they have the cabin.

One of the perks of their retirement is living in a smaller space. Small houses are all the rage these days, but this couple is doing it right. They are working hard to transform the cabin (inside and out) and the land now, so they can take it easy later.

And because of BICO Transportation…their cabin is sitting in the ideal picturesque location.

So we asked Mrs. Szarek for feedback, and it was so overwhelmingly positive that you’ll swear that Josh interviewed himself (he likes himself a lot).

She said so many great things…

Here are some of them (we had to stop listing them because we were blushing…not really…we loved it)…

According to Mrs. SzarekJosh is
  • Absolutely incredible
  • Professional
  • Confident
  • Helpful
  • Really good at what he does
  • Best delivery guy ever

In fact…

The Szarek’s were so impressed with Josh and BICOTransportation that they told other people, and those other people are seriously interested in using BICO’s services. We are blessed!!!

From our point of view…

Meeting the Szarek’s was a true blessing. Their story is amazing, and their lives are beyond words. To hear them talk about our founder and our company in such an over-the-top positive way makes us grateful that we are still doing this for the right reasons.

The Szarek family will be in our hearts and prayers for years to come, and they will always be part of the BICO family.

To our entire BICO family

Thank you for trusting us, and allowing us to be a part of your lives. We’ll continuing going strong for as long as you need us.

From the Fendell family to you

God bless and happy trails!!!!

Down Home Folks Working Side-by-Side

Smitty’s Pilot Car & Hot Shot service has been partnering with BICO Transportation for a long time now, and the partnership is mutual.

Smitty’s Pilot Car & Hot Shot is owned and operated by Ron and Penny Smith, and if we could describe Ron in one word…

That word would be…“stubborn”…

That is a good thing…in fact…that is a great thing.

When BICO (or any truck) is hauling a wide load down the freeway, they need a pilot car driver who puts that truck first.

Ron is that pilot car driver. He’ll block traffic. He’ll stop in the middle of the road if he has to.

The relationship is built off of trust, friendship, and a communication that just works.

We trust Smitty’s Pilot Car & Hot Shot with our livelihood and our lives.

This photo sums up the BICO / Smitty’s Pilot Car relationship, and to quote Josh on the photo…

You are about to receive a glimpse into exclusive meeting between BICO Transportation and Smitty's Pilot Car service. We are in very serious discussions right now as we speak on whether or not to get the French toast or the pancakes!

Do we need to say more?

Individuals Make a Family

We as individuals make the world go around by working with other people. The same can be said of family.  We each have our own likes and dislikes that contribute to the family dynamic. That’s why BICO Transportation is so successful, because our family is successful.

Success doesn’t even have to be about money. It can be whatever you put value to. As a family, we work hard to do right by everyone in our household. It could be as simple as saying thank you, to our kids helping each other. It may even be Josh doing the dishes, but only when the cameras are rolling (we’re joking of course about the dishes).

We have taken those same values and applied it to our business. We know that we talk about family a lot, and that’s because that’s what we are…family. The reasons that we come home each night, are the same reasons that we leave each morning. Every customer sees the real BICO. Every customer sees the real Josh.

Josh is the same at home, as he is in church, as he is while picking up a load to haul. Josh and Shannon are the type to people who will feed you even if they don’t have enough to eat. They are two of the most caring people out there, and everyone who has ever met them will agree.

BICO is nothing more than an extension of that love and caring. It is a simple concept that most businesses get wrong.

We don’t know how to be anything other than ourselves…BICO Transportation.

Back to Moving Sheds

We haven’t gone anywhere, nor has our focused changed.

In fact…

We are growing.

Little tiny BICO Transportation has become a big thorn in the sides of some of our bigger competition.

They don’t like it, but we don’t care.

Because we like it, and we know that you like it.

We’ve been extending our reach and going all over the place, and we’ve been hauling everything from RVs to cars, equipment to generators, and hay to piping. It’s crazy what we have been up to, but we like it.

But…

There is, and always will be, a soft spot in our hearts for sheds, small houses, and small buildings because that’s where it all started.

Those mental and physical challenges of moving a shed in and out of hard to access areas is what we thrive on. That feeling of accomplishment of “I did it” feels great.

In the end…

We’re happy…the customer is happy…and it was done right.

Why did we say that we were a thorn?

Because the customer is happy. We do a similar, or better, job than other companies, and we do it for less (less time, less money, or both).

We like where we are at…

Big enough to matter…small enough to care.

An old-school handshake type of transportation company.

If Time is Money…We’re the Sale Price

What would you say if we…BICO Transportation…could save you 10-50% off all your shipping costs?

Most of us would say, “Sign me up”.

But this isn’t some gimmick…

BICO can actually save you money. You just have to look at the big picture and be honest with yourself.

How?

Are you giving people a discounted rate?

No, and that’s not what we are talking about. Remember think “big picture”.

TIME = MONEY

Here are three examples of how BICO Transportation can save you money:

1. Our services are normally lower than our competition. If you are looking at dollar for dollar value, we beat everyone. But again you have to be honest with yourself and see what you are actually paying for, and then compare prices.

2. Our pick-up and delivery times are faster. Depending on your location, some trucking companies may only go out to your area once every couple of weeks. BICO will go anywhere on any day. How does this save you money? Time is money, and how long can you afford to wait for an item before it’s too late? If you are paying a crew to stand around because the item they need to finish the job isn’t there, then you are losing money fast. Is the loss of production and paying out hourly wages to employees who are not working worth the few bucks that you saved on shipping with another carrier? Be honest with yourself and look at the big picture because that $1,000 part has now turned into a $3,000 part due to time equaling money.

3. We pick-up and deliver for you, rather than you sending your own driver. How does that save money? Because our quoted price is our quoted price, and a lot of times our price is lower than you paying your “normal” driver. How? Again being honest with yourself, how it works is that you pay your employee so much an hour to work for you regardless of what they do. So you pay them their hourly wage to sit in traffic and drive to the supply store. When they get there they visit with the store employees and take their time. Then they load up and visit some more. Then they sit in traffic and drive back to the jobsite. All the while you were paying them their salary, paying for gas, stopping production, taking someone off of the job, and all of this is added on top of the price of the item that was purchased. That $10 part now became a $100 part due to “normal” practices.

Can BICO Transportation save you 10-50% on all your shipping costs? Yes, but that doesn’t mean that you’ll see the difference on the bill. You’ll see it when you add up all of your expenses on how much things really cost.

BICO actually makes you money by saving you money and time.
