BICO Drives and Why We Do It

Truck drivers in general (or so the story goes), get asked a lot on why they drive truck for a living.

Different people have different answers, but the truth is that there are parts of the job that everyone loves and hates (like any other career).

Let’s look at some pros and cons of what a few drivers have thrown out over the years:

  • You’re not stuck in an office all day, but you are stuck in a truck all day.
  • You get to see the country, but you don’t get to enjoy it. Working…not vacation.
  • Weather, but then there is weather. You take the good with the bad.
  • You get to catch up on emails and beating that level of Candy Crush, but that’s because you are waiting for hours upon hours whenever you stop.

Look…

We can go on for days about the ups and downs of driving a semi…aka the big rig…but we already know all of this, or at least have an idea.

The question is…

Why did Josh leave his career as a truck driver with a great company to go it alone in a world that is over-saturated with transportation companies?

Talk about being a small fish in a big pond.

First of all Josh isn’t alone…

  • He has Shannon (Josh’s wife and co-owner)
  • He has his family (this is truly a family business)
  • He has his faith and love for God
  • He has his friends
  • He has other businesses that he partners with

There are lots of reasons that Josh and Shannon started BICO Transportation. There are lots of reasons that Josh quit driving for another company and started driving for himself.

We’re not going to go into any of those reasons…EXCEPT for one.

The biggest reason…

The reason that BICO is successfully swimming with the big fish…

And that reason is…

BICO does what no other company will do.

Which is what?

Putting the customer first, and saying YES when everyone else says no.

As a driver for another company, Josh met people all of the time that had large and unique projects that had to be moved, but he couldn’t help them. He could give the people suggestions, but that was about it.

Josh knew that certain companies would move the unique…the one-offs…for a ridiculously high cost, but the trick was finding a company that would do it in the first place. There was a gap in service.

And…

From that gap in the industry…

BICO was created.

There are NO one-offs in BICO’s world, because “if there is a will there’s a way”, and every day BICO hauls loads that others shy away from.

And they do it for a fraction of the cost.

How?

Because BICO was built around that market gap, and will move anything within their legal limits.

Meaning…

That the company was started with a YES concept.

If there is a need…BICO will find a way.

Josh loves the challenge of moving something that no one else would dare to attempt… it must keep his mind sharp because he doesn’t give up.

So…

Whatever you have to move…

The “normal” or the “abnormal”…

Give BICO a call and we’ll beat the “other guys”…in customer service, cost, time, or in just saying yes…

…or sometimes in all of the above…

BICO is your company.

We do it because no one else will.

Rv’s RV’s…BICO Loves RV’s

By now you know we move RV’s.

But…

Did you know that we love them as well? Absolutely love everything about them.

The question remains though, on how BICO and the RV world come together?

The answer is easy…let’s show you…

First of all, we have RV’s that need to get from the vendor or manufacture to the buyer. Sometimes people are so excited that they go down and drive that bad boy home. Most of the time, it gets shipped to the buyer’s address, and BICO is one of those companies who love to haul RV’s.

Secondly, there are RV’s that break down. BICO doesn’t usually take business away from tow trucks, but we’d be happy to stop if we had an empty trailer while we passed you. Depending on the issue, the tow truck takes the RV into town, and then a lot of the time it needs to go to a specialist (aka dealership) for repairs. That is where BICO steps in and takes the RV to where it needs to go. Then, we also get the opportunity to pick the RV back up and take it home to the family that misses it.

Thirdly, are the short trips (usually) from the owner’s house to the RV holding area; a place off of the owner’s property where the RV lives when not in use. This is mostly winter storage for the non-snow birds, but it happens through the entire yearand BICO is moving them back and forth all year long.

Lastly, which happens to be our favorite, is the camping. Something like 13% of RV owners (which equals roughly 26% of owners that have the extremely large and luxurious motorhomes / RV’s) are afraid to drive their own rig. They are big, scary, and not traffic friendly. People want to own them and camp in them, but not drive them. People actually meet their RV at the campsite. Some people hire someone to drive it there, but after wear and tear and the price of fuel, BICO is a whole lot less expensive to move the RV from “Point A” to “Point B”.

And…

If you ever hear of anyone who needs an RV sitter, we’d be more than happy to stay in your 40’ motorhome, with the three slide outs and that 72” flat screen TV. Just throwing that out there.

The truth is that RV’s of all sizes have a spot in our hearts, and we have the want and the means to help with all of your moving and transportation needs.

With BICO…Think Both Inside and Outside of the Box

We established that we move sheds…it’s sort of our thing.

But remember…

We do a lot more!

In fact...let’s say it again (shouting this time)

WE DO A LOT MORE!

The “inside of the box” ideas are easy…

  • Sheds and small buildings
  • RV’s
  • Vehicles

And you should think about us for all of those things.

But…

What about “outside of the box”? The tricky stuff to move? The things that you should have probably hired a freight company to move because it would have saved time, money, and frustration?

Let’s throw out some examples…

(Just for the fun of it (and well...give you some ideas on how we could help you))

Churches – Most churches start off really small in a rented or borrowed space. As they grow, they hopefully move into their own building (years pending usually). Since all money is given or donated, churches have to think smartly.

Church pews for example are really expensive. Chairs are a cheaper option, but you know deep down that they want pews. There are well used to well preserved pews for sale all over the internet.

The question is how do you get the pews from the seller to the church? BICO Transportation.

Plus…don’t forget the piano that has to be moved too.

Demolition Derbies – Yes, the drivers haul their own cars on their own trailers, but what about the cars that they have staged on the course prior to the derby; the ones that are there for hiding behind and sneak attacks?

How do those wrecked non-running cars get to the fairgrounds? BICO Transportation.

Auctions – Speaking of wrecked cars, how do you get that vehicle home after it is bought at the auction? You can’t normally drive it home, and yes there are some big buyers that bring their own trailers.

In fact, we saw these two guys the other day driving down the freeway. Each guy was in his own truck. Behind each truck was another truck, which was smashed up, being towed with a tow rope. We were in the middle of nowhere, and so these guys had to have been driving for a while. There was this close situation that could have caused an accident; resulting in the guys pulling to the side of the freeway and trying to “fix” things. This could have been avoided if they did things right the first time.

How do you get your “new” wrecked auction vehicle home safe and sound? BICO Transportation.

Pipes – Big, long, and heavy pieces of pipe get moved across this country every day for cities, builders, farmers, etc. They are transported from the manufacture to the company that purchased them by barges, trucks, and trains.

But then it comes to you…the buyer (aka “the end user”). How do you get the piping to the job site? The answer usually comes down to three choices (we said usually).

Choice 1: Pick it up yourself in your pickup truck and make multiple trips. Waste of time, money, labor, and gas.

Choice 2: Pay freight by either paying the store to ship the piping, or hire a trucking outfit yourself; either way you’re still paying for a semi. Depending where you’re at (remote farm for example) trucking companies may only go out your way once a week, every two weeks, and in some cases once a month (people deal with this all of the time). Plus you have to pay for the high cost of shipping this way.

Choice 3: BICO Transportation. Lower shipping/freight costs, and you don’t have to wait weeks for your pipe; resulting in getting the job done on time.

These are just four examples of thinking outside of the box, and we’re sure that each of you can think of plenty more examples where BICO can step in and help.

Let’s throw in one more example for the fun of it…

Living on the Western side of the beautiful Pacific Northwest, we get a lot of rain, thus keeping everything green; which means that people need to mow their yards all year long (for the most part and depending your exact location).

There is a needed job market for lawn care services. Companies have trucks that pull trailers filled with a lawn mower, weed wacker, rake, and everything else that they need to get the job done. They drive the truck from the office to the job site.

We don’t help with that part. We help in another area.

We help get the new equipment to the lawn care company. Once a company starts really growing, they can’t keep up on the workload, and so they hire more people and buy more equipment.

Sure…

You can throw a push mower and a weed wacker in the back of a truck, but what about when the company buys (all at once) three new riding mowers, four push mowers, and four of everything else?

They either pull three or four trucks and crew off of their jobs, or they use BICO Transportation.

We are the best for the reason. We are honest. We love what we do. We are quick. We do as promised. We have lower rates for similar shipments.

And…

We do what other trucking companies can’t or won’t do.

DID YOU ALL SEE THIS???? Thank you Linda Kaiser for the kind words. Great people like you is what makes this job rewarding.

Per Linda...

"Josh delivered our barn shed the other day ... I didn't like where I had him place it ..... so he came back today and moved it from our front yard to our backyard. He is a kind and amazing man for getting back to us so soon and making it happen.

Could not be happier and highly recommend him to anyone buying a Old Hickory Shed or you just need something moved. Quality work at a fair price. you wont be sorry hiring him."
