Sorry for the blurry picture, but don’t worry, we were being
safe trying to hurry up and snap a pic in stopped traffic.
However…
The quality of the image isn’t as important as the message
within the photo.
100% of all accidents happen when there is a high comfort
level.
And what does that mean?
It means that people stop giving their full attention and
accidents happen.
This also means that 100% of accidents can be avoided.
There are examples of this everyday…
- “I’ve been driving truck for 20 years.”
- “I use this band saw 6 times a day.”
- “I know how much alcohol I can consume.”
No matter what it is…
Pay attention to what you are doing.
Like our photo…
We don’t know how long the driver had been driving, his
experience, or anything, but we do know that he flipped a semi upside down.
We also know that it could have been avoided.
Look…
We’re not trying to be jerks…
But…
Safety is everyone’s responsibility.
We don’t know how the semi went off of the road, and until
the official story comes out (if it comes out) it is just a guessing game…
- Maybe the driver slept in a little too long and was trying to make up time on the icy roads?
- Maybe the driver had been driving this same stretch of pavement for years and “knew what to expect”?
- Maybe a vehicle in front of the truck wasn’t being safe and the truck driver tried to avoid an accident?
All of those scenarios could have been avoided.
And yes…
Everybody has and will have plenty of accidents in their
lives (like dropping a TV on your foot)…
Including our family.
But…
BICO as a company has never had an accident.

When we go out on a job, our first goal is to come home.
Our second goal is to protect our livelihood because without
our trucks and trailers we can’t pay the bills.
Our third goal is you and your property. When we pick up a
load, your property then becomes part of our second goal because it is on, and
is part, of our trailer.
We never get comfortable on the road or on a job because we
don’t want to end up like that semi or worse.
We save all the crazy stuff for when we take a weekend off
and go play in the woods with our family and friends.
Please…
Be safe in everything that you do.
